Other License Services
We now offer the convenience of ordering your Alberta Driver Abstract online through a verified MyAlberta Digital ID (MADI) account. Create a MADI account for free, and once verified, you can easily access your abstract online.
Choose between a Standard Driver Abstract (SDA) or a Commercial Driver Abstract (CDA), and specify the desired duration (3, 5, or 10 years). The abstract provides essential driving record information, including convictions, suspensions, and demerit points. Commercial Driver Abstracts also include details about Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance inspections.
For a hassle-free experience, visit Country Hills Plates in person to get your abstract printed on the spot and you will leave with your abstract. If someone else is obtaining the abstract on your behalf, they will need your original Driver Abstract Consent Form and a Driver Abstract Statement of Intent.
Please note that the release of information from a driver abstract is regulated by the Access to Motor Vehicle Information Regulation (AMVIR), ensuring that the information is provided only with proper consent.
Renew your Alberta Driver’s Licence hassle-free with Country Hills Plates. You can renew your licence online if you meet the following criteria: you are an Alberta resident aged between 18 and 75, have no restrictions on your account, and your licence has not been expired for more than 6 months.
Also, a verified My Alberta ID (MADI) account is required, and there should be no demographic changes needed. If you don’t meet these requirements, visit our friendly registry office in Northeast Calgary.
A 5-year renewal will be given, with pro-rated options for shorter terms available in certain cases.
If your licence has been expired for more than 6 months, you will need to provide supporting documents to prove your identity, legal status, and residence in Alberta. For lapsed licences of three years or longer, you will also need to pass a Knowledge Test and Road Test. For out-of-province residents temporarily in Alberta, we offer Code F Licence renewals. Check our eligibility criteria and fees for this process.
We provide knowledge testing for all drivers license classes!
All tests are done in office during regular office hours. Appointments are not required and exams are written on a first come first serve basis. All applicants must provide acceptable identification (eg. must have a valid passport or birth certificate and proof of Alberta residency), and all applicants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.
Your exam must start at least 60 minutes before closing time. Please check the home page for confirmation of office hours.
ALL KNOWLEDGE TEST FEES = $17.00 (INCL GST).
If you have moved to Alberta from another province and possess a valid driver’s licence from your home jurisdiction, you can exchange it for an Alberta Licence of the same class in most cases. Remember, you have 90 days from your arrival in Alberta to make this change. Please surrender your current licence, as it is illegal to hold more than one licence at a time.
To complete the exchange, bring one document each for verifying your Legal Status in Canada and Alberta Residency. We are required to “close out” your out-of-province licence, notifying your home province about the application for an Alberta licence. Ensure any restrictions or fines on your licence are resolved and outstanding fines are paid to your home province.
The standard $ fee for a five-year licence will apply (unless you need to renew for a shorter period). Your current licence will be shredded in front of you, and you will receive a paper interim licence without a photo.
The actual card will be mailed to you in approximately 2 weeks. If there is a delay, please call 780-427-7013 for an explanation.
